Dear Becket Washington Families,
We have wrapped up the first quarter of the 17/18 school year, and are almost halfway through the second quarter. Time is flying, but we make use of each minute at BWS! Teachers are actively working every day (and night) to keep your children happy, engaged, and learning.
In November our PTO sponsored another successful Book Fair, and with your help, will put on more fundraisers and activities throughout the year. They work so hard to enrich your child’s experience, but need everyone’s support. There is information about several opportunities in which you can be involved later in this newsletter.
The Berkshire Music School, in collaboration with the Norman Rockwell Museum and local cultural councils, brought a musical performance to our school on November 21st. “Willie Was Different” tells the story of Willie, a bird who, although different from his peers, finds his own voice. The children enjoyed and learned from the presentation.
As a school, we continue to focus on keeping our core values in the forefront of all we do. I hear these values being reinforced in the hallways, the classrooms, the cafeteria, the playground, in all the places we gather. We would appreciate it if you would also remind students at home.
BE KIND AND RESPECTFUL.
BE RESPONSIBLE.
BE SAFE.
BE READY TO LEARN.
As we move into this busy season, I wish a happy, healthy, and peaceful holiday season to those who celebrate, and a joyful 2018 to all. Please feel free to call, email or stop by whenever you have a question, concern, or suggestion.
Mary Kay McCloskey
Principal
