Summer time and the livin’ is easy!

Good luck to our fifth graders as we send them on their way to middle school.  We
will miss you, but know you are ready for this next step!

SUMMER READING

    • Come with a book and an appetite for s’mores.  We will also have books
    • available for students to share..
Click here for our Summer Reading Ideas.  We are encouraging students to do as many
as they can, and send us videos or pictures of them engaging in the activities.  You can
email the media to me at mmccloskey@cbrsd.org, or students can bring it to school in
September.

FIELD DAY today was a little cooler than anticipated, but that didn’t
stop the fun! Thanks so much to PE teacher Jen Brandi and the PTO
for making this day happen.

SUMMER READING
We’ve revamped our summer reading program, and students will bring
home packets next week.  You can access a digital version here. We are
offering lots of choice, and are encouraging students and parents to
share pictures or videos of their children engaging in reading activities.
Send them to me at mmccloskey@cbrsd.org.

Also MARK YOUR CALENDARS for two fun-filled summer reading events
at BWS

DON’T FORGET THE BROUHAHA ON JULY 14th!  This is a wonderful
family event that will be held at the Washington Town Park on July
14th.  Everyone’s help is needed. Please give a few hours of your
time to benefit the schoolchildren of BWS.  Click here to sign up.

THE BWS PTO IS THE BEST!
Students will not be bringing home school supply lists this year, as our
generous PTO is funding the purchase of teacher requested school
supplies for every student in the school!  When your children arrive at
school on the first day, all of their brand new supplies will be waiting for
them. Thank you (again) to the PTO.

Last day of school!

THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR IS WINDING DOWN, BUT WE’LL BE BUSY UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!

Yesterday was both High Five Day, and Battle of the Books.  For
High Five Day, local law enforcement officials came to the school and
greeted each child as they arrived.

Here are our BWS BOB teams, and their coaches. They have worked
together all year, and their hard work was evident. It was wonderful
to see so many children excited about reading.

SUMMER READING
Look for information on summer reading activities to go home next week. Be sure to mark your calendars for the tentative dates of July 10 and
August 16. We will plan some early evening get togethers at the school focused on reading. (Think “Hot Diggety Dog Reading” and “Let’s Read
S’mores!)  More information and confirmed dates will be forthcoming.

CALLING ALL BWS STUDENTS!
The Town of Becket is inviting all students to participate in their Annual
Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 28th.  Decorate your bicyles or
wagons using a patriotic theme. Meet at the North Becket Cemetery at
10:00 am with a parent/guardian present. The parade begins at 10:30 am
with the ceremony at 11:00 am in Ballou Park. In addition, the Becket
Praise Team has invited the students at BWS to sing “This Land Is Your
Land” with them during the service. Please meet Bill Mulholland and the
Praise Team at Ballou Park at 10:45 am if you would like to sing.  Parking
will be available in the lots of BWS, between the Becket Arts Center and
Becket Athenaeum, and the Becket Fire Department lot.

SUMMER IS COMING, AND THE BECKET ATHENAEUM IS OFFERING A
WONDERFUL CAMP OPPORTUNITY!
The Becket Athenaeum has been the fortunate recipient of a grant to
send BWS students to the Becket Outdoor Center Day Camp during the
summer of 2018. Twenty students names will be drawn and each student
will receive one week of camp free!  For more information, and to enter
your student in the drawing, click here.

In addition, as part of the Athenaeum’s annual Silent Auction fundraiser,
you will have the opportunity to purchase a week at camp for a reduced
price.  Click here for more information.

HERE’S AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FIFTH GRADERS AND THEIR
FAMILIES
Nessacus will be holding a family BBQ on the 19th of June at 5:00 pm.
They would like to invite families of fifth graders to this event. It will be
a great way to meet new students, teachers, and other families.

GREAT VOLLEYBALL GAME!
Everyone had a wonderful time this afternoon cheering on the 5th graders
and the staff as they competed in our first annual Staff/Student
Volleyball Game.  Staff was victorious this time around, but those fifth
graders were tough competitors!
